1939  The first Plymouth La Rochelle yacht race, organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) with the support of the Société des Régates Rochelaises (SRR) and the Royal Western Yacht Club of Plymouth (RWYC), was first raced in 1939. Interrupted during World War II, the race started again in 1947 and continued until 1981.

2012  In partnership with Plymouth (RWYC), Douarnenez (AYC) and La Rochelle (SRR), the Yacht Club Classique is organizing a revival of this historic race. These wonderful classic yachts, some of which used to sail this race in the fifties and sixties, will start from Plymouth for a friendly contest and some good parties.

Every 2 years since, this great regatta, revived by the YCC, attracts an exceptional flotilla of Classic Yachts with 18 boats in 2012 and 32 boats in 2014 completing the race. In 2016,  around 50 boats participated.
